Altresì Spazio is a young, dynamic and flexible reality. Partner with Ventitre01 for the promotion of the selected artworks on catalog, it shares the cultured, professional and practical approach that it is needed to find new solution for experiencing a creativity that is alive and kicking all around. Let’s knowing better founders’ opinion about art, design and exhibition events.

In medio stat virtus.

The paradigm of the relationship between Art, Architecture and Design seems to be declined in different ways. What shape do you think is it possible to take for an effective dialogue between these three components? Where is the “no man’s land” ?

The matter of the relationship between these three areas is one of the most interesting to debate in the making of contemporary art, a kind of peculiar aspect. Art, Architecture and Design, each with its thousand shapes, are offering many opportunities to create synergies and cross-references to each other nowadays. Each designing and creative context provides in our opinion an opportunity to play this game with these three visions, relating the three ways of approaching the same matter, although this can happen only through a process of awareness and knowledge of the three contexts themselves. The boundary that divides Art, Architecture and Design is a really thin line. Along this limit the parts play the game of the relationships and the definitions, taking forward a debate that is historical. It is truly uneasy defining where one ends and the other begins. It is surely something the three of us, Altresì Studio, are used to talk about during many long long evenings.

The word/world “Design” is often considered synonymous of “creativity”. What about “Art”?

To answer properly to this question we should first define what the artistic expression is and what is the creative, and this will make us include also the function issue, that goes along with the shape that the object necessarily assumes. A significant number of philosophical currents converge on these three polarities, each time let them meet and collide, generating a whole series of further enrichments. Defining these elements in some ways means caging and control them, and this is something that art and creativity do not need because of their intrinsic nature. Perhaps the secret lies in the approach that the maker considers in relation with the conception of the object, and as a result of the logic that drives the whole process of its implementation.

How did your project start?

Altresì is the result of our experience in the various professional areas that we deal with, in particular the architectural, the graphics and the design contexts. The concept is totally new, and it moves from the multidisciplinary and interchange between the skills and the most important issues we consider working for this project. Any idea developed by our Studio moves forward from the various aspects of this co-presence that acts itself, and significantly contributes, to the final result, event or making. So each project we realize includes all the other perspectives and visions that may be not traditionally peculiar to every singular discipline itself. In addition Altresì takes basis on the anomaly of creating an open space, accessible to everyone at any time of the day. What we do is opening a space to the people, a space that is usually specified as private and safe, through the exhibitions and the events.

The term design is everywhere. How is it possible to let it keep its real meaning?

We think that beyond the word Design, beside its use, or abuse, the proper meaning appears always as the result of the pure vision, simply what we are looking at. A design object, an artwork, or an architectural creation is always perceived on the basis of what it expresses through its peculiar characteristics, functionality, beauty and style, whatever it is its label or definition. The real meaning of the term Design, Art, ect. should be preserved firstly by the designer and the artist that, through their competence and sensitivity, operate with a sense of honesty and loyalty focused on the final user, without falling into a pure commercial logic.

How and how much the status of the object has changed in your opinion?

The nature of the object is undoubtedly changed more than that the status of the object, or along with it, becoming exactly what the word status means. We believe that unscrupulous makers and dealers ride this wave more often than is desirable, creating a cultural phenomenon to push the users to some new and more costly expenses, usually contemplating depreciation of the value of the object, that is lower than the price requested. It is not uncommon for advertising, design and art professionals come across unknown products designed by anonymous designers that are so much more beautiful and functional than the objects signed by the trademark of the moment. As usual it is the training of the user that takes him to accept or move away from these visual taste’s fluctuations.

Could you describe how you approach a new idea for an exhibition or an event?

Usually we don’t start from an idea but from a feeling, an emotional approach, to create an exhibition or an event. The searching for the right idea focuses on the communication of a certain feeling to the people that participates to our events. The everlasting will of amazing and offering always something new to our guests is the basis of our projects structure, and the contribution of three different personalities and professionalisms as ours surely is a strong ally for achieving the success of a nice exhibition. We are now organizing with Ventitre01 the showcase for the new artworks that will be selected for 2015 Catalog. In this occasion, an event that will take place in spring at our exhibition open space, a special setting will be created in order to give more emphasis and value to the artworks we are going to show.

The research about the making process must look forward, or rather, has to look back to the roots, to a direct understanding of the medium, through the practice?

In medio stat virtus. Surely the continuous research for something unknown or undeveloped yet lies within every crucial process of evolution for the development of creativity, and there is no doubt that every creative cannot be divided from his/her own experiences and cultural roots. It may sound obvious but the best harvest is always obtained experiencing and looking ahead starting from of our past. Unfortunately, speaking of  handcrafts the first thought goes to antiquate hand made works realized in the "old way", while the new methods and media, or progress itself are synonymous of the destruction of the cultural roots. We believe instead that the right measure of self-consciousness, unconsciousness and experimentation can be used to promote and keep alive even handcraft practices that otherwise would be destined to die by natural obsolescence.
